History of the church
In the ancient days,the Kodukulanji area was a quite undeveloped place without proper means of transportation and even road facilities.People were under the rule of the Maharaja of Travancore-Cochin.The major population were Hindus and there were very few christians too.In those days epidemics such as small-pox etc were a great threat ...and in cases of death, the christians had to carry the corpse all the way to the Valliyapally at chengannur for burrial in which they have to encounter many untold hazards. Thus a group of christians went to Abraham Malpan at Puthencavu with their grievances who directed them to to contact an Anglican Missionary called Joseph Pete at Mavelikara.
